A Minimalist
Artisan Bathroom
Chapel Hill, NC
What we started with
Transform a primary color children’s bath into a modernized and organic bath, repurposing as much as possible to lower the cost.
The Design Approach
Natural elements added to a minimalist black/white theme brings simplicity and comfort
Incorporate the craftsmanship of North Carolina artisans for authenticity and warmth
Play on natural tones with black/white contrast, and metal edging to create a sleek and organic feel
Repurpose dated maple cabinets and the large mirror to reduce cost
The Results
A modern and distinctive bath of North Carolina Art
Natural and handmade elements bring warmth to a modern and sleek design
Bring in local artisan designs: Custom Walnut counter from Steve Peters Design, Durham, NC and Stoneware sink from Michael Mahan, Potter, Seagrove, NC
The Mazarine Design Difference
Space optimization, Fit for function, Simplicity
Added a thick custom reclaimed walnut wood countertop to elevate the previous kid-friendly height
Added a custom stoneware sink to bring style and a color note in this monochrome design
Repurpose cabinet by flipping and painting doors and changing hardware
Repurpose the large mirror, moved off the wall with background LED lighting to serve as night light and give atmosphere
Installed long rectangular tiles lengthwise to elongate and expand the space on floors and walls
